STEP 4

LOG YOUR TIME SPENT ON ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES

WEEK 3

TIME REQUIRED: 20 to 50 minutes

MENTAL “SPOONS” REQUIRED: 2 per hour

This week, you will use the Daily ACTIVITIES Journal worksheet to log how much time you spend on essential activities: sleep, breaks, hygiene & grooming, preparing food & drinks, eating & drinking, cleaning up the kitchen, and all other essential tasks that you have to perform yourself (that you cannot delegate to anyone else).

If all of your weekdays, from Monday to Friday, share pretty much the same routines when it comes to essential activities, I suggest you track your time spent on essentials for at least 3 days (a weekday at random, a Saturday, and a Sunday). If, on the other hand, your weekdays are all very different from one day to the next, then I suggest you track your time spent on essential activities for at least a whole week (7 consecutive days).

At the end of each day, you will also score yourself with regards to how well you functioned mentally and physically throughout the day. You will give yourself a score of four (4) if you were fully functional all through the day. You will give yourself a score of three (3) if you were a bit diminished. You will give yourself a score of two (2) if you were clearly diminished. And you will give yourself a score of one (1) if you were mostly dysfunctional throughout the day.

On all of your logging days, this week, I suggest you take your time while performing all of your essential activities. This is so that you can see just how much time it really takes you, when you’re not in a rush, to get ready in the morning, to eat, to clean up after yourself as you go, etc.

Most of us tend to underestimate how much time we need for all of our essentials, because we don’t usually pay much attention. We don’t usually take the time to calculate just how long it takes us to perform all of our essential activities.

Therefore, way too many of us, way too often, end up not reserving enough time daily for all of our essentials. Some of us even end up sacrificing sleep or healthy eating so that we can take care of everything else, so that we can get everything else done!!!

But all that ends up doing, in the end, really, is make us feel like there’s never enough time in the day!!! And as a result, we end up way too often feeling… Overtired!!! Frazzled!!! Overwhelmed!!! Anxious!!! And ultimately… If we don’t course correct in time… Completely EXHAUSTED!!!
